Strong foundations for Kaiwera Downs wind farm
Brian Perry Civil is ensuring that Mercury’s new Kaiwera Downs wind farm near Gore will be built on strong foundations.
Working with lead civil works contractor Higgins on the first stage of the 43MW wind farm, BPC will be constructing the foundations for the turbines.
Everyone involved in the project gathered on site for the sod turning event to kick off construction (pictured). The wind farm will have ten wind turbines in the first stage, delivering enough power to support around 20,000 homes or 66,000 electric vehicles. Once built, the turbines will stand 145 metres tall from base to turbine tip.
