Strengthening resilience
BPC is proud to have upgraded Seaview Wharf in Wellington harbour to improve the resilience of the structure and fuel pipeline it carries. It’s critical infrastructure, carrying nearly one million tonnes of fuel to the lower North Island every year.
CentrePort has worked with Z Energy on behalf of the fuel industry to make the 50-year-old wharf and pipeline more resilient to earthquakes and adverse weather events, fit for lower carbon fuel types, and to accommodate different types of fuel ships.
We used our three jack-up barges for the project, with soffits and other structures poured at our Otaihanga precast yard. The project included installing a 70t soffit, believed to be the largest lift from a jack-up barge ever completed in New Zealand.
To deliver the project, we used an innovative project delivery approach, a Matrix of Permitted Operations, to map out how construction work could happen alongside the need for tankers to continue to unload fuel.
Check out our video that showcases what we have delivered.
