Better Together with The University of Waikato

We recently formalised a partnership with The University of Waikato, building on a long standing and natural alignment between our organisations.

“Over the last few years, we’ve seen growing opportunities to support the University of Waikato’s School of Engineering through contractor focused industry engagement,” says Fletcher Engineering Services & Innovation Manager Brendan Attewell. “This has included guest lectures from Fletcher staff, thought leadership events, site visits, and a newly established Waikato based Bridges to Schools STEM programme.

“Waikato is the spiritual home of Brian Perry Civil, and the culture and values shared by both organisations are, unsurprisingly, centred on people, excellence and learning. We need engineering graduates who are work ready, and time and again the University of Waikato has proven it can deliver exactly that.”

“Our collaboration with Fletcher Construction reflects the type of industry partnership that modern engineering education needs,” says Professor James Lim, University of Waikato. “Through guest lectures, site engagement and thought leadership events, our students gain valuable exposure to real engineering practice and the challenges facing the infrastructure sector. Partnerships like this help ensure we are developing graduates who are technically strong, industry aware, and ready to contribute from day one.”

The Fletcher Construction–University of Waikato Partnership Committee will support the collaboration and help drive value from the initiatives this partnership enables.
