05R Slab Replacement

BPC reconstructed eighty-three 3,014m2 concrete pavement slabs on the western end of Auckland International Airport’s runway. The project included replacing concrete pavement and rehabilitating existing asphalt pavement, as well as replacing and upgrading existing airfield ground lighting and other affected services. The works consisted of 1,500m3 of pavement construction, 900m3 of earthworks, and 600m3 of CTB placement.

The runway replacement section was split into three zones, operating with concurrent crews. Safety was preserved by each zone having a dedicated crew, reducing any plant and labour crossovers.

BPC demonstrated the surety of its airside capability with the works delivered on time with no environmental, quality, or health and safety incidents.
