Whakawhirinaki taking shape
The Whakawhirinaki Silverstream Pipe Bridge is taking shape, with the western span now in place.
Project Manager Hayden Chapman says the 60m truss, weighing 170t, was lifted in five sections. The heaviest lift was 46t.
Working with Eastbridge Ltd, BPC is delivering the critical infrastructure project for Wellington Water across Te Awa Kairangi (Hutt River).
The remaining 40m truss and 100m network arch, being fabricated in Napier, will be installed between June and August.
When complete the bridge will carry the main water supply for Wellington as well as providing pedestrian and cycling access across the river.
