Seaview piling completed

BPC’s Seaview Energy Resilience Project team have completed a major milestone on the critical infrastructure project, with the final pile being poured. The project is seismically strengthening the Seaview Wharf, where all the fuel for the lower North Island is delivered.

Project Manager Ian Pringle says twenty-four 1.5m piles have been poured, containing over 1000m3 of concrete and totalling over 0.5km in length.

The piling crew have had to work around the demands of the fully-operating wharf, with work stopping and equipment having to be moved when ships are delivering fuel. To get the job done as efficiently as possible, the team have worked in shifts when no ships have been in port.

Well done to the piling team of Lima Tofa, Robert Pedebone, Alovao Palemene, Filomeno Gagasa, Aviu Samuelu, Melchor Jagolino, Uele Tago, Mack Singh, Lei Aiulu, Losi Samuelu, assisted by engineers Kyle Marshall and Ara Cho, and barge master Gabryel Wii.
