Sustainability focus for Taupō project

Sustainability is a strong focus for BPC’s team delivering the earthworks and foundations for the new Laminex facility in Taupō. The Orientated Strand Board (OSB) facility will use innovative technology to produce product from mid-2025.

The sustainability focus starts with the demolition of the existing foundations on the site. Project Manager Mark Seymour says the c.5000m3 of foundations that need demolishing will be crushed and retained onsite for later use.

“We’ve all got a real drive to focus on developing environmental and sustainability initiatives throughout the project,” Mark says.

The scope of work includes work c.10,000m3 of cut to fill earthworks, installing new buried services and underground infrastructure, constructing a building platform, foundations for 6500m3 of new buildings, and foundations for new plant.”
