Paeroa pump station upgraded

Overcoming weather and supply challenges, BPC’s team have completed work on the Roger Harris Pump Station upgrade in Paeroa and handed over the site to Waikato Regional Council.

Project Engineer Mohammed Arsheel said a new cofferdam was designed and constructed after the original one was breached by flooding in late November. “During wet days, the movement of the dam and the water level was always monitored,” he said. “When the water exceeded the safe working level, all work inside the well would stop and everything was moved out.”

Supply issues included long waits to get all the new steel galvanized and delivered.

The upgrade work on the pump station has improved access to screens for weed clearance and delivered health and safety upgrades.
