First turbine foundation pour completed

BPC’s team has completed the first turbine foundation pour at the Kaiwara Downs wind farm near Gore. The team is constructing ten wind turbine foundations, each containing approximately 330m3 of concrete, 44T of reinforcing steel, and 15T of hold down bolts and anchor flanges.

BPC is working with lead civil works contractor Higgins on the first stage of Mercury’s 43MW wind farm. Once built, the turbines will stand 145 metres tall from base to turbine tip.

Firth has established a temporary certified batching plant onsite for the supply of foundation concrete.
