Dawn ceremony for jack-up barge fleet
Te Ᾱti awa Taranaki Whānui kaumata, Kura Moeahu, assisted by Alishia Moeahu, led a dawn karakia and naming ceremony for BPC’s jack-up barge fleet at Seaview Wharf in Wellington today.
After a kaikorero by BPC General Manager Andrew Burgess, Fletcher Building’s Kaitohutohu Ahurea Matua Val Panui delivered the waiata tautoko.
Our new 400t deck capacity barge, Manahau, has joined the fleet of Tūāpapa and Kaupapa. Manahau and Tūāpapa can lock together to create a floating platform 60m x 20m, giving us one of the biggest floating barge capacities in New Zealand and the largest jack-up capacity by 150t.
Manahau’s 38.5m legs are 14.5m longer than the legs on Tūāpapa. The extra leg length means it can work in deeper water and deeper sediment.
