Site work starts on Silverstream Pipe Bridge
BPC’s work site has been established ahead of construction starting on the Silverstream Pipe Bridge, another critical infrastructure project we’re proud to be delivering for Wellington Water.
Site clearance is being supervised by ecologists to ensure the environment is protected. Native lizards and snails were relocated last year to enable the clearance work to begin.
The bridge will replace an ageing bulk water main, which is in poor condition and tricky to access for repairs as it sits below SH2. The pipe is being built to fit along the bridge, with room for a walkway and cycleway, crossing over Te Awa Kairangi (Hutt River). Piling work is expected to start in March.
