Excavator craned into action at Kaitoke
The 22m tower crane recently assembled at BPC’s Kaitoke Flume Pipe Bridge project has lifted an 8 tonne excavator across the river to the northern slope.
Our subcontractor Abseil Access loaded out 750m3 of loose material from the northern slope face into a muck skip, which the crane lifted back to the southern slope for removal. With the loose material removed, work has begun installing the rock anchors to strengthen and stabilise the slope before building the northern bridge foundation.
The Favco M860D crane has a 64.2m luffing boom, able to lift 32T at a 32m radius and 11T at a 62.5 radius.
