Silverstream concrete substructure completed

The concrete substructure for the Whakawhirinaki pipe bridge project in Silverstream has been completed by BPC’s team. The steel bridge structure is being fabricated off-site and the first sections of the bridge are due to arrive on site in March.

The bridge, being built for Wellington Water to carry a new bulk water main, will also provide walking and cycling access across Te Awa Kairangi (Hutt River).

Project Manager Hayden Chapman says the new alignment of the buried bulk pipeline is two-thirds complete. “The buried pipe will reach the bridge by mid-2024, with the pipe across the bridge being installed towards the end of the year.”
