Milestones delivered
Four significant milestones have been delivered this month by our Seaview Energy Resilience Project team.
Project Engineer Thomas Callan says the 66T BD-B soffit was installed on 9th July, the 68T MD-A soffit on the 11th, and the 70T PC3-1 shell a week later. “To get three major precast lifts delivered in a week was a testimony to the hard work and planning that goes into our operations alongside the fuel industry here in Wellington Harbour.”
Work is now underway to prepare the pile caps for concrete pours towards the end of August. “Each presents its own challenges, with the mooring dolphin in particular requiring 100m3 of 50MPa concrete to be pumped over 100m from truck to pile cap,” Thomas says.
The fourth milestone has been completing the gravity clamp system underneath the wharf. Ten bespoke clamp boxes are fixed and grouted to the existing raker piles, a complex operation that began in May 2023.
