Congratulations to our BPC team who constructed the Taranaki Street Pump Station for Wellington Water on a tight site in the central city. Hidden below the ground, it is 10.88m external diameter, 8.66m internal diameter, with a floor level 8.5m below ground.
Our team installed 42 secant piles 19m below ground level to form the pump station’s superstructure. Instead of the standard polystyrene blocks for the guide wall, we chose an environmentally friendly cardboard design that also proved cost-effective.
The new pump station will reduce pressure on the existing network, accommodating growth and providing resilience for the capital critical wastewater infrastructure.
