Driving extra value

Office Manager Lynne Phillips is adding value to BPC’s Snells Beach team after completing her Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers training. It means she can step up to drive plant when there’s a shortage of operators on site.

Lynne says she wanted to learn to drive as many machines as she could, to diversify her role and “become more valuable to the team”.

“Training was interesting as I was the only female on the course, and the only one who had never driven any machines,” Lynne says. “But everyone on the course was great and helped.”

Superintendent Steve Parry said Lynne has always gone above and beyond in her role. “With all the extra help Lynne gives the site, when she mentioned she wanted to learn how to drive plant I was like why not.”

“Lynne has been a great help to the civils team as now if she’s free she’ll jump in and help when they are short of operators. This is a great example of how we get women into construction as BPC is willing to support you to try new roles or be more diverse in your current role, which can only be an asset to the business.”
