Celebrating another successful project

BPC is proud to have delivered the Kaitoke Pipe Bridge for Wellington Water, finishing five months ahead of schedule despite the challenging conditions.

The bridge supports a 1.5m diameter ductile iron pipe, the largest of its type installed in New Zealand, designed to withstand significant earthquake events.

Wellington Water Group Manager Network Development and Delivery Susannah Cullen said it was great to see the hard work of the contractors finished. “It’s a real engineering feat to construct a pipe bridge of this size in a location with many technical challenges, but the team pulled through and finished five months ahead of time,” she said.

As well as playing a vital role in protecting the region’s supply of water, the bridge is part of a popular walk in the Kaitoke Regional Park.
