Connecting young women to construction
BPC, in partnership with Higgins, was proud to host a Connexis Girls with Hi-Vis® event in the Bay of Plenty to help young women recognise the huge opportunities available in infrastructure industries.
Students from Papamoa and Te Puke secondary schools and a Work Ready programme enjoyed hands-on experience at our Rangiuru Interchange site. They heard from talented women in our businesses, including Drainage Apprentice Petite Martin and Surveyor Bayley Smith, about pathways into infrastructure careers.
The students enjoyed helping to set out and survey with Bayley, who demonstrated the tools she uses, including drones and a line-marking robot.
