Building resilient foundations

Our Piletech team have been busy building a deep resilient foundation for the newly reopened Tipene St Stephens School south of Auckland. The foundation was required to mitigate the risk of soil consolidation and provide tension uplift resistance.

Project Manager Alex Hunger said Piletech screw piles were the ideal solution for the 138m long and 30m wide Canadian supplied Sprung Structure.

“Encountering some difficult ground conditions at the site was challenging,” Alex said. “I’m proud of the way we used engineering nous to overcome this and keep the build on programme. Our site team adapted well to the site conditions and worked methodically every step of the way”.

Piletech presented a case study on the project to consultants Kirk Roberts and GHD in Auckland and online across the country.
