Tight piling

BPC’s team overcame the challenges of a tight site and low headroom to complete the James Smith Carpark piling project in central Wellington ahead of programme and budget.

As well as constructing 900mm diameter piles in an existing building with only 2.1m of headroom, the team also constructed 1200mm diameter piles in a tight alleyway.

Project Manager Jack Gillard says the Geax EK60 piling rig (pictured) was only just able to fit into the narrow area of the alleyway. He praised the team who delivered the works, which client Keyway was very pleased with.
