AMETI Bridge piling

The project demonstrates our expertise in fluid-supported piling and working over water capability.

Our scope of work included the installation of piles for 2 piers and 2 abutments as part of the overall bridge works at AMETI between Panmure and Pakuranga. The works included 2 sets of staging to install and remove (5 bents and 7 bents, plus an access platform below); 8 No. abutment piles (120mm dia.) and 16 No. pier piles (1200 dia.); temporary works installation; assisting in installing a cofferdam; timber pile removal along the bridge; and wick drain installation.

As one of the tallest staging projects BPC has built, the project posed numerous challenges. Our work over the water had some fundamental Health, Safety and Environmental risks that were mitigated with stringent protection measures. The rock levels were also 7 – 9m deeper than ground investigations indicated, compelling us to undertake changes to the design.

Our specialist piling equipment, expertise, and inhouse Engineering Services team allowed us to complete the challenging scope of works safely and successfully.
