Safety first on challenging site

BPC’s team has successfully installed a 70m long capping beam on a very challenging cliff-edge site in Auckland that was substantially damaged by Cyclone Gabrielle earlier this year.

Site Engineer Clifford D’Souza says safety is the top priority for the project, both for team members and the environment. “The team implemented rigorous safety protocols and maintained an impeccable safety record,” he says.

There’s a lot more work to come, including installing grouted strand anchors, blockwork wall construction, and temporary works. Then it’s backfilling with approximately 800m3 of materials having to be moved into place through a narrow side gate using a combination of mini-railway and conveyor belts.
