Work Scope:
  • Construct 9 km of PE Rising Main 160 mm and 180 mm OD maximum depth 4 metres · Directional drill 355 mm OD PE pipe 85 m long beneath State Highway 1
  • Directional drill 273 mm OD x 9.3 mm WT steel pipe, 24m long beneath the North Island Main Trunk Railway.
  • Supply and install 17 Air Valves
  • Supply and install 11 scour valves

Pump Station 1

  • Supply and installation of pumps, electrical works, cabling, telemetry and connection to power supply. (Pump Well constructed by others)

Pump Station 2

  • Construction of complete civil works including pump station wet well (3m diameter x 6 m deep), satellite manhole, valve chamber, flow meter chamber, access road, landscaping and fencing
  • Supply and installation of pumps, pipeworks and mechanical components
  • Supply and installation of all electrical works including connection to power supply, cabling, flow metering, telemetry system and PLC control logic

Traffic Management

  • Work carried out alongside existing roadways. Traffic management procedures adopted avoided issues associated with rural roadways and residential areas
  • Directional Drilling beneath SH1 had to meet Transit NZ requirements
  • Directional Drilling beneath NIMT had to meet Ontrack requirements


  • Location of the site made the development and use of an Environmental Management Plan essential for this project
  • Required to provide sediment control measures for stormwater run off to avoid polluting existing waterways and pipelines
  • No environmental incidents


  • Production performance exceeded bid performance Project completed on time despite Client Access delays into Correction Facility
