The contract was suspended for 3 months due to Genesis Power Ltd generation needs in the middle of the contract.
Works included:
- Design and install a cofferdam in the tunnel upstream of the canal intake.
- Provide and operate dewatering facilities to enable work within the canal to proceed in the dry.
- Excavate and clear silt, gravel and debris from the canal - approx volume 1400 cubic metres.
- Water-blast concrete slab invert area to remove loose scale, moss and grime including capture, diversion treatment and disposal of contaminated blast water - canal length 6km.
- Complete joint repairs allowing for 17 litres of joint sealant per transverse joint - 185no.
- Form, cast and finish 100mm and 150mm thick concrete overlay slab including joints and surface treatment - 35,000 sq metres.
