This piling subcontract is part of the overall New Lynn Rail Trench currently under way.

Scope of Works:

Bored Piles

  • Construction of 246 x 750 dia bored cast in-situ piles (piles are used for tension and compression)
  • Depths of piles range from 25m - 50m, with the majority being constructed under Bentonite support fluid.

H-Piles

  • Drive 168 x 310UC 109kg/m H-Piles.
  • Piles will act as end bearing support for a capping beam, on which passenger trains will travel.
  • Lengths range from 18m - 40m with a maximum UDR of 2540kN at bridge locations.

Logistics

  • Full co-ordination with ONTRACK safe working procedures.
  • Strict lifting restrictions in place (no lifting >6m before 09:00 or after 15:00)
  • Working with Rail Track protectors
  • Rail corridor approximately 1km x 10/14m.
  • Working in close proximity to the general public.
  • Various footpaths through working site to/from platform and street access.
  • Strict environmental controls (all excavation areas to have bunds in place)
  • 24/7 Day and Night shifts with noise control

Brian Perry Civil were performing this work in a live rail corridor, with trains passing every 15 -20 minutes.
